In my eight years as a personal trainer, I’ve listened to many clients talk about their insomnia, struggling with my own at times. I have tried to integrate most of the items on this list and, oh boy—when done in concert, they make a BIG difference.

Since the birth of my son, I’ve learned a lot about sleep or the lack of it. I was warned about sleep deprivation with a newborn but I hadn't counted on colic, croup, colds, ear infections and extended teething. Throw in other interruptions like the neighbours’ early morning jack hammers and an elderly dog, and you can understand how sleep has become a valued commodity in my life.
