From Anxiety to Peace of Mind: What Was I Thinking?

Have you found yourself dealing with the grip of anxiety, especially during this time of global concern?

Is it possible that you have been paying attention to a particular mindset of thinking, not just to the pragmatic information we need to know to protect ourselves and others?

Paying Attention to What You Are Interested in Having Happen

During the mid-1990s while I was practicing teaching the Inward Outlook in my coaching private practice as well as in my professional life as a public speaker, trainer, and consultant, I was also interning as a psychology doctoral candidate. In the clinic where I worked, my colleagues and I partnered in pairs, co-leading fifteen schizophrenic patients five hours each day, three to five days a week.

Rhythm of Breathing Key to Controlling Fear and Emotional Behavior

by Alex Pietrowski | Waking Times

We live in a fearful world with exposure to a deluge of stressors everyday. As much as fear is a result of reacting to the actual or perceived events in our lives, it is also a biological function of the human body, and when equipped with an understanding of how the body manages the emotional system, we can easily outsmart it, tricking ourselves into emotional balance.

Dream Big, Lush, Vivid Dreams

Disappointment is, literally, failing to keep an appointment. Which is why I think it hurts a little more than the other bumps and bruises of life.

When you feel disappointed, you are feeling deprived of something you thought was already in motion. If you’re feeling like you have an “appointment” with a promotion or a successful presentation or a new love, having that thing not work out is especially crushing because it was kind of a done deal inside your mind.

Shred the Dread

This month’s reality check is all about how to shred The Dread. I’m talking about that sickening, sinking feeling when you are confronted with something you don’t understand and have to learn. First there is the fear factor, the “I don’t think I can do this” that flashes without conscious thought. Then, there is the sense of overwhelm, the “This is too much to learn, I don’t want to do this” that grabs you by the throat and throttles you.

Don't Worry Like Mark Twain

Mark Twain

(Mark Twain...looking worried)

This week’s reality check - or, as I like to call it, “whack upside the head with the Frozen Fish of Reality” (Google Monty Python's Fish Slapping Dance for the reference and have a good laugh)comes courtesy of the great American humorist and writer, Mark Twain.
