A great way to stay in action is to shift the focus from ourselves to others.
By thinking more about “how can I be of use to others” instead of “what do I need or want,” you’re sure to increase your self-esteem AND productivity.
Mehmet Murat Ildan, a contemporary Turkish playwright and novelist, said, “Every New Year people get you some presents but the best present you get never changes: Your own existence! It is also your best present to others!”
When we’re stuck thinking about all the things that still need to be organized or accomplished, it’s easy to feel disappointed.
That’s when the negative stories start running.
Instead of fighting with yourself and procrastination OR waiting to feel inspired and “in the mood,” shift gears completely and find someone else who may be struggling as well.
How can you easily support them in accomplishing something challenging?
You could also review your “to-do” list.
Are there any items involving someone else that you’ve been putting off?
Something you’ve borrowed and haven’t yet returned?
Something promised you haven’t yet delivered?
Pick just one and get it done today.
TODAY’S ACTION:
Find one thing you can do for someone today that you’ve been putting off, put it on your calendar, and get it done.
