Hello evox Community,
My name is Sean Aiken, a holistic health and wellness coach and a graduate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. This will be a four-part Spring Cleanse series, which will give you some bite-sized tips to take on, try out, or tackle sometime later. My theory is that small steps are better than no steps, to get to where you want to go.
Spring is the perfect time of the year to start anew.
So, who's up for some simple steps to clean up our diets, bodies, and environments, with a Cleanse?
What is a Cleanse?
A cleanse is simply removing the most common allergens and toxins from your body and aiding you in getting rid of the ones that are already present. Toxins can be taken into your body in two major ways:
- through the foods you consume
- through the environment in which you live
By eliminating these toxins, you are supporting your body's natural ability to heal itself and function at its best. The effects can be transformative. Some benefits can include; clearer skin, improved sleep, digestion, energy, and mental clarity, as well as a reduction of bloating, constipation, headaches, and joint pain.
Cleanses can go from simple to extreme—from eating clean all the way to the more extreme "master cleanse." I have done the gamut, but I am going to talk about the simpler end of the cleanse spectrum. Its much more doable for the novice, plus there will be tips that you can sustain and make part of your everyday lifestyle.
If there is one thing I cannot stress enough, it is that no one is perfect, and we are all different, so what works for one doesn't always work for all.
I suggest that you try things on, and if they work for you great, but if they don't, then don't sweat it…move on and forget about it.
My thoughts behind this blog series is that this should be a fun exploration of how we can take care of ourselves, our families/communities, and our environments, by making better choices in what we put into these areas.
Who's up for a little fun exploration into the world of Cleanse?
Join me next time for a look/exploration into the environments in which we live, work, and play, and what we can take on in cleaning them up so we can function better...or even optimally!
So, until next time, I want you to look at your life in all its facets, and see what’s not working or what seems toxic, and make a list, from simple to YIKES!
Sometimes just giving your life some attention instead of just blindly going along for the ride can do wonders.
Explore all areas, and make a list where some spring cleaning is in order. Some of us tend to jump in fully to things HEAD ON.... for those of us who do things "moderately" (and those who don't), please consult a Physician just so you have a partner watching your back while you embark on a cleansing journey. It's great to be in communication with your primary physician...sometimes they, too, learn and gain the benefits of watching their patients get better, feel better, and look better.
