Most of us get the concept - ‘You Get What You Focus On.’
It seems pretty straight forward. Focus on what you want and it manifests in your life, right?
Then why do so many things that we don't want keep showing up? That’s a great question, so let’s take a look.
First, I want you to read this one more time:
‘You Get What You Focus On’
That means you get exactly what you focus on - whether it's positive or negative. If you are focusing on it, more of it will manifest. In other words, anything you focus on is what you will have more of, including:
- Difficult People/Situations
If you are someone who has been focusing on paying down debt, for example, what you will end up with is more debt, simply because debt is what you have been focusing on. The same is true for anything else. If you are focusing on having less stress, stress is what manifests because that is what you have your attention on.
The question is ‘If I am focusing on something I don’t want, and that is what I am manifesting in my life, then how do I change it?' Since the context of my work here is Abundance & Prosperity, let’s look at Debt.
Rather than debt, shift your focus, attention, and intention to manifesting wealth. Inside of that, you can then create plans for paying down the debt, but debt is never your primary focus - manifesting wealth is.
As you make the shift in this, and other areas of your life, you will start to see over time a massive change in what shows up. It won’t happen overnight. It will take some time, so don’t give up, and be sure to keep it present for yourself day and night.
Here is my formula for making this shift:
- Have a note next to your bed that says ‘I am manifesting wealth in my life’ so it is the first thing you see when you wake up, and the last thing you see before going to sleep. (Note that it is stated in the present tense - not the future)
- Declare it before getting out of bed. Say it out loud ‘I am manifesting wealth in my life’
- Have a note on your bathroom mirror - declare it out loud
- Have a note on your car dashboard - declare it out loud
- Have a note on your work computer - declare it out loud
- Declare it again right before going to sleep
- Declare it throughout the day as it comes to mind
Each time you make this declaration, close your eyes and allow the thoughts, feelings, and emotions that come with actually having that wealth come through. Really get present to how you will feel when you have that wealth. By experiencing the emotions in the present you are actually creating for yourself having manifested that thing now.
The stronger those emotions are the more powerful it is.
If you are going to shift your focus, you want to surround yourself with reminders of what you are now focusing on and get present to how it will feel to actually have what it is you want - now. And, when old, negative thoughts pop into your head (and they will), just let them be and re-declare what you are focusing on out loud while getting present to the emotions of actually having what you want right now. You must intentionally generate what you are focusing on - rather than letting your random and preprogrammed thoughts determine it for you.
You can apply this to any area of your life. The key is to keep it present for yourself by managing what thoughts and feelings you indulge, and what conversations you have with yourself and others.
The magic is when you look back at how it was vs how it is. You will see the incredible shift your life has taken simply by bringing into focus what it is you really want to manifest in your life - right now.
