Over the past several decades a major shift has occurred throughout our world. Workplace demands, improvements in technology and an ever growing number of life stressors are just a few of the things that people point their fingers at as contributing to a lifestyle disconnected from ourselves and more connected to cellphones, laptops and tablets. With so much disconnect we often forget to move our bodies and minds as much as we do our fingers on our keyboards, mouses and screens!

While important, I’m not as concerned about the past as I am with today. And today, just like every day, is an opportunity to make a new shift or a new change to head in whatever direction you may desire to go with your life. With that being said, I’d like to welcome you to today and welcome to evōxMove!

My name is Mike and I am evoxMove. Today I’d like to invite you to join me and the growing community of evoxMove.

I’m here to share with you easy and sometimes unique ways that people just like us are living and promoting active lifestyles around the globe. I will be providing you with an inside look at the latest and greatest in the areas of health and wellness, and invite you to share and do the same, as we journey together in an attempt to improve both our physical and mental well-being.

Let me break it down:

Physical wellness is anything concerning or related to our physical activity, exercise, healthy eating, athletics, mobility, etc. In addition we will try to generate an awareness of our bodies and reveal preventative methods that can be used to live our lives to their healthiest and happiest potential. Whether dealing with significant physical challenges or performing as an elite athlete there is always more we can do to improve the way we move.

Mental wellness is anything that encourages us to engage in mental well-being and expanding our knowledge for using this in our daily lives. It’s an opportunity to flex our creative muscles, allowing our natural curiosity to look at new and exciting ideas, subjects and interests while promoting the habits of lifelong learning. A healthy mind is one that sees the world with openness and is willing to try on provocative and new insights and is not troubled by stress and habits that lead to unhealthy pursuits and anxieties.

We will focus on these two areas of wellness both individually and as a community while we discover the connection between the two. We all know the old saying, “Healthy mind, healthy body”. But what exactly does that mean? What relationship do the two really have? These are the types of questions that we will continually pursue within evoxMove in our efforts to create a unique lifestyle that is right for each one of us.

I don’t have all the answers. I’m just a guy…and in regards to my own physical and mental wellness, to be perfectly honest, I’m nowhere close to having it figured out (I will elaborate on this more in future posts). This is where I turn to you, the evoxMove community. Between us we have a lot of experience. I want and need to hear from you. We all do. What steps are you taking to get in shape? What issues or topics are relevant to you and your wellness? Got a cool new yoga mat that you want to see featured in our store? Great, let me know! Read something that stimulates a new way of looking at the world? Awesome, share it with us! Learn a new meditation? Discover a new hiking trail? Let’s hear about it! The ideas can be limitless!

This is the start of a new journey. It’s an ongoing exploration and conversation to encourage active lifestyles. So whether you’re looking to slim down, bulk up or just simply maintain your current self in a healthy way everyone one has something to contribute and we want to hear from you all.

Personally I’ve fit in to every one of those categories at different times in my life. Over the past 7 years my weight has rocketed from 157-238 lbs. as a competitive athlete, until arriving at my current weight of 165 lbs. During that time my mental shifts have fluctuated in a range of the same magnitude, if not greater, than that of my weight. Our minds and bodies are perpetually changing, so it is up to each one of us to develop the awareness and initiative to actively shape those transformations.

Please feel free to look at all the evox brand categories as each of them has something that can inspire us along the way. Whether it’s Living, Community, Nourish, Prosper or Evolve you never know what may spark your interest.

The one thing we know for sure is that everything changes. Welcome to evoxMove!
