You could work the typical schedule of eight to five, or you may want to shorten the hours if you have improved efficiency to just nine to three each day. If no parent company dictates when you must be available, you can set the hours that work best for you.

It is not just enough to set your working hours. You must maintain them, too. Make sure you are sitting in your chair and ready to work at the hour you have set and that you are ready to leave when “closing” time arrives. You may realize that you can adjust your hours down the road to be efficient, but make sure you are not stretching out your working hours too much. This is just going to result in more wasted time.

Several programs will help you remain on track when you are working in your home office. If you have a bad habit of venturing to your favorite websites, try to use the software to keep you from doing this except at specific times of the day.
