A few years ago, I made a deal with my husband, Doug, – if you are going to watch football all day, you have to do the laundry. That was over 6 years ago and now he has grown very particular about how the laundry gets done. He will make sure all the laundry is done prior to when Alma, our house cleaning person, comes on Thursdays. Doug is brand loyal. We used Tide for an HE washer, Downy, and Bounce.
After researching Mrs. Meyer’s products, I purchased Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Lemon Verbena Laundry Set which contained Mrs. Meyer's 68 Load 4x Laundry Detergent - Lemon Verbena, Mrs. Meyer's Fabric Softener - Lemon Verbena, and Mrs. Meyer's Dryer Sheets - Lemon Verbena. With Mrs. Meyer’s we use less product, the clothes do not have the extra-added detergent feel—they are softer, cleaner, and smell fresh. (The dryer sheets make the laundry room and outside smell amazing without leaving a heavy fragrance on the clothes.)
What's cool is feeling efficient. The laundry detergent lasts longer than a 64-load bottle of Tide and Mrs. Meyer’s costs less.
Another reason we switched was due to the extra Tide detergent that was left in the washer. Every week we needed to clean the washer to remove the excess soap. This wasted water and increased our water bill in our drought-sensitive location.
For the rest of the house, we were using heavy Clorox for the bathrooms, Formula 409, Pledge, and some stone floor cleaner. Alma was using heavy chemicals every time she came here. Looking back, the house smelled cloroxy and sterile. Alma told me she had to spray the products on the surface she was cleaning and then walk out of the room. The chemical fumes were too much and she was coughing and getting dizzy. Who knew if the chemicals she was using were products that can be used together without creating a chemical reaction? The chemicals were definitely not good for her health or for our house.
Wanting to try Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning products and sticking with the same Lemon Verbena scent, I purchased Mrs. Meyer's Tub and Tile Cleaner, Mrs. Meyer's Multi Surface Spray Cleaner, Mrs. Meyer's Multi Surface Concentrate, and Mrs. Meyer's Toilet Bowl Cleaner. I also saw Better Life on Shark Tank and wanted to try their products. So for the floors I purchased Better Life Simply Floored Floor Cleaner, wood items Better Life Oaky Doky Wood Cleaner and Polish, and for glass Better Life See Clearly Glass Cleaner.
Alma loves these products. She loves the smell of each and noticed a big difference in how everything looks plus stays clean throughout the week. I have noticed how great and fresh my house smells. The floors and all other surfaces have that shiny clean look that lasts throughout the week. Also there is a huge difference in how everything looks but my opinion doesn’t count as much as Alma because she cleans house for a living.
The products I used every day are the Mrs. Meyer’s Liquid Hand Soap and the Mrs. Meyer’s Liquid Dish Soap. We had the seasonal scents (Orange Clove and Iowa Pine) and of course Lemon Verbena scent. I have noticed when I wash my hands or do the dishes, there is not that excess soap feeling on my hands. Also when I scrub the dishes prior to going in the dishwasher (as the service technician said, "The dishwasher is not a garbage disposal"), the dish get cleaned faster and easier.
Doug and I have always been skeptical about trying organic products – “they won’t clean as well without the chemicals.” We are happy we have tried the new products and will not switch back. The last item to find would be something for the dishwasher that will clean the dishes without leaving a scent. If anyone has thoughts on a great dishwasher soap, please let me know. I will report back once I find that item.
